WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE CUP
ROAST LEVEL
Medium

Medium roast, 3 of 5 on our roast scale. A gentle profile suits this coffee, which is delicate enough that a heavier roast would cover the pear and sage completely.

FLAVOR NOTES
Brown Sugar

A soft molasses sweetness rather than a sharp one.

Pear

Mild orchard fruit, closer to pear than to citrus.

Sage

An unexpected savoury, herbal note on the finish.

The quietest coffee in the range, in the best sense. Brown sugar sweetness and soft pear fruit, with an unusual savoury sage note that gives it more to say than a mild cup usually has.

THE ORIGIN

From Peru

Peru is among the world's largest producers of certified organic coffee, most of it grown in the Andes on smallholdings rather than large estates. The cups tend to be gentle and sweet rather than loud.

Ours is certified USDA Organic and Fairtrade, roasted in California to a medium profile and shipped whole bean. It makes a good everyday coffee, and a good one to offer someone who tells you they find coffee too strong.

Q&A

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

Is Twiga coffee whole bean or ground?

Whole bean. Every Twiga coffee ships as whole bean so the aromatics stay locked in until you grind. Grind just before you brew for the best cup.

How does the subscription work?

Choose Subscribe & Save at checkout and pick a delivery rhythm: every week, 2, 4, 8 or 16 weeks. You save 10% on every delivery, and you can skip, pause or cancel at any time from your account.

How does my purchase support wildlife conservation?

10% of proceeds donated to wildlife conservation. We partner with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, the Hirola Conservation Program and the Somali Giraffe Project.

What does a sage note taste like in coffee?

It reads as a soft savoury, herbal note rather than anything sharp or medicinal. Here it sits behind the brown sugar sweetness and gives the finish a little more interest than a mild coffee usually has.

Which Twiga coffee should I choose if I find coffee too acidic?

This one. Peru is the gentlest cup we roast, built on brown sugar sweetness and soft pear fruit rather than the sharp citrus you get from our Kenyan and Ethiopian coffees.
