WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE CUP
ROAST LEVEL
Medium

Medium roast, 3 of 5 on our roast scale. Kenyan coffee carries real acidity, and stopping here keeps that brightness in the cup instead of flattening it.

FLAVOR NOTES
Honey

A rounded, syrupy sweetness that softens the acidity.

Lime

Sharp citrus acidity, the note that makes Kenyan coffee recognisable.

Tropical

A ripe tropical fruit finish that lingers.

Kenya AA

12 oz · Whole bean

AA is Kenya's largest screen grade, and this lot drinks with the structure that suggests. Honey sweetness meets a sharp lime acidity, with a tropical fruit finish that the medium roast leaves fully intact.

THE ORIGIN

From Kenya

Kenyan coffee is among the most recognisable in the world: high acidity, dense sweetness and a fruit character that can read as citrus, blackcurrant or tropical depending on the lot. AA refers to the largest of the standard screen sizes in Kenya's grading system.

Ours is certified USDA Organic. We roast it in California to a medium profile, far enough to build sweetness but not so far that the acidity is lost, and ship it whole bean.

Q&A

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

Is Twiga coffee whole bean or ground?

Whole bean. Every Twiga coffee ships as whole bean so the aromatics stay locked in until you grind. Grind just before you brew for the best cup.

How does the subscription work?

Choose Subscribe & Save at checkout and pick a delivery rhythm: every week, 2, 4, 8 or 16 weeks. You save 10% on every delivery, and you can skip, pause or cancel at any time from your account.

How does my purchase support wildlife conservation?

10% of proceeds donated to wildlife conservation. We partner with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, the Hirola Conservation Program and the Somali Giraffe Project.

What does Kenya AA taste like?

Bright and structured. Honey sweetness, a sharp lime acidity and a tropical fruit finish. If you find a lot of coffees taste flat, this is the opposite of that.

What does AA mean?

AA is a grade, not a flavour note. Kenya sorts its green coffee by screen size and AA is the largest of the standard grades. It describes the bean rather than the roast or the taste.
