THE ORIGIN

From Guatemala

Guatemala grows coffee across several distinct regions of mountainous, volcanic terrain, and it is a classic origin for chocolate-leaning cups with real body. That structure is exactly what stands up to a darker roast.

This is the dark roast in the Twiga range, certified USDA Organic and Fairtrade. Roasted in California and shipped whole bean, like every coffee we make.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

Is Twiga coffee whole bean or ground?

Whole bean. Every Twiga coffee ships as whole bean so the aromatics stay locked in until you grind. Grind just before you brew for the best cup.

Is a dark roast too strong if I usually drink medium?

It is fuller and deeper, but not harsh. The orange note keeps it from being one dimensional. If you usually add milk, a dark roast will cut through it better than a medium one will.

Does a dark roast have more caffeine?

No. Roast level makes very little difference to caffeine. A dark roast tastes stronger because it is bolder and more bitter, not because there is more caffeine in the cup.

Does the Guatemala work for espresso?

Dark roasts are generally the most forgiving choice for espresso, and this one has the body for it. It also holds up well in a moka pot or a French press. See our brew guide for ratios by method.
