OUR STORY
Born from Kenya. Built around coffee.
Twiga Coffee was founded in 2020 by two brothers who grew up in Kenya, surrounded by the landscapes where coffee grows.
WHERE IT BEGINS
The place came first.
Twiga Coffee's story begins in Kenya.
Kenya is home to some of the world's most distinctive coffee-growing regions, and those landscapes became part of the identity they later brought to Twiga Coffee.
Long before there was a company, there was a connection to the place that would eventually give it its name.
2020
Two brothers, one idea.
Twiga Coffee began at farmers markets in the Sacramento area, one bag and one conversation at a time.
What started small has grown, but the idea behind Twiga Coffee remains simple: let great coffee speak for where it comes from.
WHY COFFEE
Coffee carries its origin with it.
Coffee is one of the few things you can buy that still tastes like the place it came from. Elevation, soil, climate and the people who grow it all shape what reaches the cup.
That is why Twiga Coffee focuses on single origin coffee, keeping each origin distinct rather than blending away what makes it different.
THE NAME
A name rooted in Kenya.
Twiga means giraffe in Swahili.
For two brothers who grew up in Kenya, the name connected the company back to home and to one of East Africa's most recognizable animals.
The giraffe became more than a name. It became the symbol at the heart of Twiga Coffee.
TWIGA TODAY
Rooted in origin. Focused on quality.
Today, Twiga Coffee offers single origin coffees from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Guatemala and Peru, alongside a growing Tea Collection that includes first harvest matcha from Uji, Kyoto.
The collection has grown since those first farmers markets. The focus on origin has remained.
A BROADER PURPOSE
More than coffee. A commitment that lasts.
Twiga Coffee was built around more than what goes in the cup. The landscapes that shaped the brand are also home to wildlife worth protecting, and supporting that work became part of what the company stands for.
From our story to your cup.
